February: Trade-Wind Consistency and Solid Groundswell

February keeps the dry-season template locked in. The average swell height is again 1.3m (4-5ft) and the average period ticks up to 12.5s, so the waves have more push and better shape. NE and ENE winds make up over 82% of the wind rose, with a large concentration in the 10-30kph range. That persistent trade flow keeps Playa Grande's surface textured enough for speed but not blown out. The ideal wind score drops slightly to 56%, mainly because the NE component is more cross-offshore than fully offshore; still, the surf rarely becomes stormy.

Swell direction is a battle between northern-hemisphere trade swell and southern-hemisphere groundswell. NNE/NE together provide 28% of the direction spectrum, while SSW and SW add nearly 30%. That SSW/SW groundswell, despite not being the absolute ideal angle for a west-facing beach, wraps and funnels into the bay at 12.5s, producing hollow, workable peaks. Expect plenty of 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m) surf, warm air in the upper 20s°C, and almost no rainfall.
