Best Surf Season (November - March)

Lagkouvardos faces due west, right into the Ionian Sea, and that becomes a real advantage once the Mediterranean storm track switches on in late autumn. From November through March, average wave heights climb into the 3-4ft (0.9-1.2m) range, with average periods mostly in the punchy 6-6.5s zone. The most consistent swell window comes from WSW and W, with solid secondary pulses from WNW and SW. The magic ingredient is a strong high pressure over the Balkans; when it couples with lows moving through the Ionian Sea, it sets up offshore NE/ENE/E/ESE flow and cleans up the west-facing sandbars. Ideal offshore wind angles occur 17-23% of the time during these months, which is enough for proper sessions, especially around passing cold fronts.
