La Roccetta seasonal overview

Best Surf Season (November - February)

Winter is the time to make it happen at La Roccetta. From November through February, average wave heights climb to around 3ft (0.9-1m) and the average period stretches to 5.0-5.2s, which is the most energetic combination the south-facing beach sees all year. The Mediterranean storm track becomes more active, and the swell window from SSE, S, SSW and SW receives the most consistent pulses. Offshore winds from N, NNE, NE and NNW are also at their most frequent, delivering clean, groomed windows between frontal passages. This is not long-period open-ocean groundswell; instead, expect punchy, rideable Mediterranean windswell that can become genuinely fun when a good south-southwest swell aligns with a N/NE offshore wind.

Fair Surf Season (March - April and October)

The shoulder seasons at La Roccetta are transitional and hit-or-miss. In March and April, the south-swell window remains active, with S, SSE, SW and WSW dominating the wave rose, but average heights ease to around 2-2.5ft (0.6-0.8m) and periods hover near 5.0s. October signals the return of strength, with sizes rebounding to 2.5ft (0.7m) and the first proper autumn lows tracking across the Mediterranean. Wind is the main wildcard: clean offshore N/NE/NNW mornings are often followed by onshore SE/SSE afternoon breezes or frontal winds, so this is a game of picking the right sessions.

Low Surf Season (May - September)

From late spring through summer, high pressure takes control and the surf almost disappears. Average heights drop to 1.5-2ft (0.5-0.6m), periods fall to 4.0-4.5s, and ideal offshore wind occurs only 6-9% of the time. Daily thermal breeze cycles from the S/SE and W/NW quadrants chop up what little south-sector swell is left. May is slightly better than the core summer months, and September can see the first glimmers of autumn energy, but for the most part this is groveling, micro-wave territory - bring a longboard or use the time to work on your tan.
