August: Peak Tropical Heat and Constant Summer Swell

August is climatologically one of the wettest and warmest months in Acapulco, yet the south-facing coast remains blessed with consistent, long-period swell. Average wave height holds at 4-5ft (1.3m) with a 13.4s period, and the swell direction is again tightly grouped between SSW (74.5%) and S (20.2%). SW adds another 4.7%. The wave-height distribution is consistent with summer: 52.0% in the 1-1.5m (3-5ft) range and 17.1% in the 1.5-2m (5-6ft) range, so there are plenty of waves for all levels, with occasional bigger sets.

Ideal wind conditions hover around 42%, matching July. W (19.7%) and WNW (14.4%) are still the dominant wind directions, but E/ESE combined flow approaches 20%, bringing humid, tropical air and afternoon instability. Precipitation averages 8.09mm/day, the highest of the year alongside September. Air temperatures stay near 25.7°C, and water temperature peaks at 30.8°C -- bathwater warm. The saving grace is that summer S/SW swell normally pulses for days after a tropical system, and any early-morning offshore window should be treated as gold.
