Best Surf Season (April - September)

From April through September, Acapulquito hits its stride. Average swell heights climb from 1.0m (3.3ft) to a consistent 1.2m (4ft), while periods hold in the powerful 12.6-14.1s long-period range. The south and south-southwest pulses that dominate this stretch are not the exact ideal east-southeast swell, but they refract into the east-facing pocket and produce clean, rippable peaks once the west and northwest offshore wind regime does its magic. April and May are the jewels of the season, with ideal offshore winds 89-90% of the time and some of the longest, cleanest waves of the year. As summer progresses, southern hemisphere groundswell and eastern Pacific tropical activity take over, injecting bigger, heavier energy and occasionally pushing the spot into 1.5-2.5m (5-8ft) pumping territory.

Fair Surf Season (February - March & October - November)

These shoulder months offer a solid taste of Acapulquito without the full summer punch. February and March see the ocean waking up after winter with wave periods climbing to 12.8-13.5s and ideal wind percentages improving to 75-85%. October and November keep the average height around 0.9-1.1m (3-3.6ft) and still draw on long-period south-southwest groundswell, though the winds become a bit less reliable as northern breezes start to creep in. Good to fun waves are on the table, especially when the S/SSW swell meets the prescribed WNW-to-NW offshore flow. These are transition months, so there are plenty of groveling days mixed with very clean, mid-period peaks.

Low Surf Season (December - January)

The low point of the calendar is December and January. Average swell heights dip to 0.8m (2.6ft), periods shorten to 11.9s, and ideal offshore winds drop to just 64-67% of the time. The swirl of S/SSW swell is still present, but it is mostly small and soft, and the increase in NNW and NNE winds adds more bump and less organization. It is not an entirely barren period - when a long-period southern swell lines up with a west-northwest offshore breeze, Acapulquito can still deliver clean, fun-sized waves. But on average, winter is the most inconsistent and least rewarding stretch for surfers chasing real size.
