The best windows come on low to mid tide, especially when a steady East wind grooms the faces. When conditions line up, Mirleft delivers clean, rippable walls that stretch out in both directions. Don’t expect a bustling surf industry—that’s not the point. Mirleft’s charm lies in its simplicity: a place to disconnect, explore, and share genuine stoke with a small tribe of like-minded wave riders. Best Surf Season (October - March)

The North Atlantic is in full voice through these months, as the seasonal southward migration of the storm track lines up low-pressure systems directly on Mirleft's northwest-facing coast. The Azores High loses its summer grip, and extratropical cyclones rolling across the eastern Atlantic generate long-period groundswells that march straight into the beach. Average swells sit in the 5-7ft (1.5-2.1m) range, with periods between 11.5 and 13.2 seconds, and the wind is favourable for surfing 36-51% of the time depending on the month. The swell window is dominated by NW and NNW directions - exactly what this coast needs. When the post-frontal flow clocks into the south or south-west quadrant, Mirleft is firing: heavy, lined-up waves with clean offshore conditions. The main villain is NNW wind, which can still blow onshore through this period, but the winter months offer by far the best ratio of size, period and wind for high-quality surf.
