But don't be fooled; the open beach is a fickle beast, often blown-out or messy, demanding patience and a discerning eye. For intermediate surfers, Oualidia delivers consistent sand-bottom peaks that come to life with southwesterly or northerly swell. Waves start to hold shape from a modest 1 foot, offering both left and right shoulders depending on the sandbars. A southeast wind is your best ally to clean up the faces, and the tidal range here is forgiving—low, mid, or high tide can all produce rideable waves, though timing is key to avoid the worst of the chop. When the session winds down, Oualidia reveals another treasure: its famed oyster parks. Pull off your wetsuit and savor a plate of freshly shucked oysters, a local delicacy that adds a savory finish to a day on the water. Best Surf Season (October - March)

The North Atlantic roars to life in October, and Oualidia feels it almost immediately. As the autumn-to-winter storm track expands southward and the NAO index transitions through its winter phases, deep low-pressure systems rolling toward the Iberian Peninsula send long-period groundswell down the Atlantic coast of Morocco. From October through March, average swell heights hover in the 6-8ft (1.8-2.4m) range with periods of 12-13s. The northwest-facing beach is right in the crosshairs of the dominant NW, NNW and WNW swell directions. Best of all, the south-to-southwest offshore winds that groom the face become far more frequent, with ideal conditions 27-48% of the time. This is the window when Oualidia is truly alive.
