Best Surf Season (October - March)

When autumn and winter deepen over the North Atlantic, Seinesodden transforms into a serious cold-water surf spot. The seasonal peak in extratropical cyclone activity sends long-period W, WNW, NW and NNW swell marching into the coast, while Scandinavian high-pressure systems set up an offshore E/ESE/SE/SSE flow. During positive NAO phases the Atlantic storm track keeps the low-pressure train firing toward Norway; when high pressure builds over Scandinavia, the clean offshore wind machine switches on. The numbers confirm it: from October through March the average surf height sits between 5ft and 6ft (1.4m and 1.9m), the mean period climbs to 9.5-11.4 seconds, and a favourable offshore wind blows 49-56% of the time. This is the sweet spot for powerful, groomed waves.
