December is Cloud 9's peak-size season, with maximum swell height and serious power. Average surf sits at 5ft (1.6m) with a period of 10.0s, and the NE sector dominates at 60%, supported by 25% ENE and 8% NNE. The height distribution is beefy: 27.5% of all waves are 3-5ft (1-1.5m), 23.5% are 5-6.5ft (1.5-2m), and a solid 7.4% reach 6.5-8ft (2-2.5m). The Siberian High now drives a relentless NE trade wind, which means onshore conditions are common and ideal offshore wind is a scarce 6%. December surf is therefore often big, raw, and challenging, reserved for experienced surfers willing to sit in the impact zone. The rare offshore days are the stuff of legend-hollow, mechanical, and fast on the reef. Water remains a warm 28.4°C, air averages 27.7°C, and the monsoon trough produces 14.8mm/day of rain, adding to the dramatic tropical feel of the month.
