Meron seasonal overview
Best Surf Season (November - March)
Meron's north-facing beach is at its finest from November through March, when the North Atlantic storm track locks in. Average swell heights sit in the 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) range and periods run 11.7-12.6s, putting the beach squarely in the powerful long-period zone. Swell direction is dominated by NW and NNW, which aim straight at the shore, while S/SSW/SW offshore winds keep the surface clean and make the waves bend into the bank. It can be cold and wet, but this is the window that gives Meron real, pushy, well-defined surf.
Fair Surf Season (April, September and October)
The shoulder months are a trade-off. April still has rideable NW groundswell at around 4ft (1.3m), but the period drops to 10.6s and ideal offshore winds fall to 33%, making it a game of picking the right day. September is the first turn of the tide: swell averages 3.5ft (1.1m) and periods stretch back to 10.2s. October is the strongest of the three, with average heights returning to 4.5ft (1.4m), periods climbing to 11.2s, and offshore wind windows improving to 48%.
Low Surf Season (May - August)
From May through August, the Azores High takes charge and the Atlantic's storm factories go quiet. Average swell heights drop to 3ft (0.9-1.0m), periods fall into the 8.7-9.8s range, and cross-shore/non-offshore winds from the E/NE sector become the rule. Ideal offshore wind days shrink to just 14-26% of the time, leaving Meron small and bumpy. The rare clean morning with a waist-to-chest high NW swell is the summer lottery ticket, but you won't plan a surf trip around it.
