Bridges seasonal overview
Best Surf Season (December - March)
The west-facing setup at Bridges is never going to be mistaken for a big-wave arena, but the winter months are the most consistent for ridable surf. As the North Atlantic Subtropical High strengthens, it cranks up the easterly trade-wind machine across the Caribbean. Average swell heights reach 0.7-0.8m (2.3-2.6ft) and periods climb to 6.7-7.0s, with ESE/SE windswell supplying almost all the energy. Offshore winds from the ENE/E quadrant blow for a large share of the winter, especially when cold fronts pass and tighten the pressure gradient. It remains a small-wave spot at heart, but conditions are punchy, regular and often clean.
Fair Surf Season (April - May and November)
These transition months offer a trade-off: the wave period drops to 6.1-6.5s and the average height settles around 0.7m (2.3ft), but the wind fields become lighter and the ideal-wind windows improve. May is the standout, with ideal wind reaching 55% of the time, and April can deliver glassy mornings on smaller but rippable waves. November marks the return of winter as periods stretch back toward 6.5s, although stronger trades cap the ideal-wind frequency. This is funboard and longboard territory, with only occasional bursts of 1-1.5m (3.3-4.9ft) swell.
Low Surf Season (June - October)
From late spring through autumn, Bridges enters a summer lull. Average swell periods bottom out in the 6.0-6.3s range, and the wave-height distribution is overwhelmingly dominated by 0.5-1m (1.6-3.3ft) ESE/SE windswell, with an increasing share of sub-0.5m micro waves as summer progresses. June can still be a glassy dream thanks to a 62% ideal-wind rate, but the lack of period and power keeps waves marginal. August through October is also the heart of tropical cyclone season; occasional storms can fire up longer-period S/SE/SW swell, but the accompanying onshore winds often trash the quality at this west-facing break. If tropical storms miss, this is a flat spell.
