Today's Surf Conditions at Ollie's Point
Best Surf Season & Climatology
Best Surf Season (April - October)
Ollie's Point really comes alive during the green season, when the northward-shifting ITCZ weakens the Northeast trade winds and the Southern Hemisphere starts firing long-period groundswell toward Central America. Average swell periods climb from sub-9 seconds in winter to a solid 12-14 seconds, and the directional spectrum swings strongly into the SSW and SW quadrants - the sweet spot for this SSW-facing point. With ideal offshore wind windows running from 50 percent in April to 66 percent in July, these months deliver some of the most consistent, rippable waves of the year. Wave heights hover in the fun 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m) zone, with occasional 5-6.5ft (1.5-2m) pulses when distant Southern Ocean lows line up.
