From mid-spring through late summer, the Southern Hemisphere storm track directs a nearly endless conveyor belt of SSW and SW groundswell at the southwest-facing sands of Playa Nosara. Average wave heights climb to 4-5ft (1.3-1.5m), and the average period peaks at 13-14 seconds, meaning real power behind every wave. The trade-wind flow relaxes compared to the dry season, and the percentage of ideal wind days climbs to 64% in July. Water temperatures stay around 29°C, so all you need is a board shorts and a dawn patrol before the afternoon sea breeze shows up.
