Today's Surf Conditions at Panaitan Rights
Best Surf Season & Climatology
Best Surf Season (January - March)
When the northwest monsoon locks into place over the eastern Indian Ocean, Panaitan Rights gets its most consistent run of clean, offshore surf. The monsoon flow out of the west and northwest keeps the wind blowing from land to sea across this southeast-facing reef, while strong low-pressure activity in the southern Indian Ocean feeds a steady diet of long-period SSW and SW groundswell. January and February are the standout months with ideal conditions around half the time, and March holds on with a still-excellent 42% clean window. Expect fun, rippable waves in the 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m) range, with occasional bigger sets when the swell direction swings more southwesterly.
