Today's Surf Conditions at Bogliasco
Best Surf Season & Climatology
Best Surf Season (November - February)
The depth of winter is when Bogliasco wakes up. The Mediterranean may not have the Atlantic's open-ocean fetch, but Gulf of Genoa low-pressure systems more than make up for it, firing swells from the S, SSW and SW straight into this SSW-facing beach. Average surf heights peak at 3ft (0.9m) in December and January, while the offshore wind window from N, NNE, NNW and NW opens 39-47% of the time. This is the classic Ligurian combo: a fresh pulse of Libeccio swell followed by a clearing Tramontana offshore wind. A negative NAO phase often tilts the odds even further in your favor, shunting more storm energy toward the western Mediterranean. It's not Hawaiian scale, but for this stretch of coast it is the most consistent, cleanest surf of the year.
