Neixpa seasonal overview
Best Surf Season (October - February)
This is the premium window at Neixpa. A SSW-facing beach break, Neixpa receives almost continuous long-period groundswell from the South Pacific, but the real key is wind. From October through February, high pressure over mainland Mexico delivers more frequent N/NNE/NE/NNW offshore flow, and ideal wind conditions run between 28 and 37 percent. Long-period swell from the S/SSW/SW quadrant averages 4-5ft (1.2-1.5m) with periods of 13-14s, creating clean, rippable peaks on a warm winter ocean. Rainfall is low and the water stays in the 27-29C range.
Fair Surf Season (March & June - September)
During March and June through September, the swell gets bigger and more direct from the south, but the wind becomes more fickle. Spring sea breezes and summer tropical moisture generate more WSW-W cross/onshore flow, so ideal wind drops to between 16 and 32 percent. When the wind aligns, Neixpa is excellent, with average heights around 1.5-1.7m (5-6ft) and periods of 13-14s; when it doesn't, the surface gets bumpy and hard to ride. The secret is chasing the early morning northerly pulses and avoiding the afternoon sea breeze.
Low Surf Season (April - May)
The most frustrating months are April and May. The swell is firing - averaging 1.5m (5ft) with 14.1s periods and a very favorable SSW/SW direction - but ideal wind sits at only 10-12 percent. Persistent WSW-W winds, along with direct SW flow, make the spot blown out and lumpy much of the time. It is still worth checking, especially after a northern cold front sets up a rare offshore window, but for consistency this is the weakest period of the year.
