Best Surf Season (October - February)

Pascuales sits on Mexico's Pacific coast with a southwest-facing exposure, wide open to southern hemisphere groundswell, westerly energy and eastern Pacific tropical storms. From October through February, the rainy season retreats, the northern offshore wind pattern becomes more frequent, and long-period S, SSW, SW and WSW swells are consistent. With ideal winds reaching 43-47% in most of these months, waves in the 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m) range with 13-14 second periods line up best on the beach. This is the sweet spot for clean, rippable surf in warm tropical water.

Fair Surf Season (March and June - September)

March is a transition month into the southern hemisphere swell season: surf remains solid, but the frequency of offshore winds drops, making quality more hit-or-miss. June through September is the heart of the rainy and eastern Pacific tropical cyclone season. Southern hemisphere and tropical-derived swells from the SSW and SW keep the average size healthy at 1.5-1.7m (5-6ft), and favorable wind windows return in July-September, but heavy rainfall, humid air and stormy variability keep it from the top tier.

Low Surf Season (April - May)

The least attractive time of year at Pascuales is late spring. April and May actually produce some of the biggest, longest-period SSW/SW groundswells of the year, with averages of 1.5-1.6m (5-6ft) and 14.1s periods. However, ideal offshore wind drops to only 13-14%, and the prevailing W, WNW and WSW flow puts chop on the face or pushes straight onshore. It is far from flat, but you have to work hard to find a clean window. Early mornings, light-air days and the edges of passing tropical disturbances are the best bet.
