Tucked along the coast of Colima, Pascuales is a raw, untamed beachbreak that draws inevitable comparisons to Puerto Escondido. This black sand stretch delivers the same heavy, freight-train power that separates the confident from the curious. When the southwest swell lines up, the intensity is palpable—thick, pitching walls and steep drops that demand full commitment. It’s a proving ground for expert surfers, but the reputation also pulls a crowd when conditions align, so early arrivals and local knowledge are key. Spring and summer are prime time, with swell heights ranging from a manageable 4 feet to a fearsome 20 feet. Best performance comes from the southwest, though south and west swells also produce. The sand bottom yields both left and right peaks, with a clean northeast breeze keeping the surface smooth. Tides are forgiving—any stage can work—but beware: when the surf is pumping, the current turns serious, often requiring a strong paddle and a sharp sense of positioning. Access is refreshingly simple: parking lines the beach, making gear haul a breeze. For board choice, a shortboard is versatile, but on XXL days, a gun is non-negotiable. The local crew charges hard and holds the lineup with respect earned through consistency and humility. Best Surf Season (October - February)

Pascuales sits on Mexico's Pacific coast with a southwest-facing exposure, wide open to southern hemisphere groundswell, westerly energy and eastern Pacific tropical storms. From October through February, the rainy season retreats, the northern offshore wind pattern becomes more frequent, and long-period S, SSW, SW and WSW swells are consistent. With ideal winds reaching 43-47% in most of these months, waves in the 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m) range with 13-14 second periods line up best on the beach. This is the sweet spot for clean, rippable surf in warm tropical water.
