November: Cleaner but Smaller

November sees average swell heights ease back to 4.5ft (1.3m), though the average period remains solid at 13.1 seconds. The swell direction is still favourable, with SSW leading at 55.2 percent and S contributing 24.9 percent. Most of the energy falls into the 1-1.5m class, but there is still a meaningful 10.2 percent of SSW swell in the 1.5-2m range. The size is smaller than summer, but the combination of long period and southwesterly direction keeps the wave quality surprisingly good.

Wind conditions are a highlight of November. Ideal offshore flow is available 39 percent of the time, and NNW becomes the dominant wind direction at 20.1 percent, with NW at 15.8 and WNW at 10.3 percent. These directions are more cross-offshore than fully offshore, but they are far better than the W/SW onshore flow of spring. The weather is dry with just 0.56 mm/day of precipitation, air temps around 21.9°C, and water temp still pleasant at 28.9°C. November is a solid month for quality surf without the summer intensity.
