Best Surf Season (September - November)

The spring months are when Taronui Bay sees its highest percentage of north-northwest and north-northeast swell. As low-pressure systems track east across the Tasman Sea, long-period northwest pulses wrap into the Bay of Islands and light up the north-facing sandbars. Onshore flow is an issue, but the frequency of clean, offshore southerly intervals is enough to make this the most consistent window of the year.
