Autumn is the golden window at Bogan River. As the Southern Ocean storm track intensifies, average wave heights climb to a solid 5-6ft (1.6-1.9m) and periods sit in the powerful 12.8-13.0s range. Crucially, the wind ratio still favours the surfer: offshore NE, ENE, E and ESE flow blows 25-28% of the time, and the SW, WSW, W and WNW swell window accounts for 75-85% of all wave energy. You get genuine long-period groundswell and workable conditions in equal measure.
