June: Clean Lines, Small Waves

June sees the Southwest Monsoon beginning to establish itself, and the improvement is tangible. Ideal wind time rises to 18%, and the wind rose now shows meaningful westerly and southwesterly components-WSW accounts for 10.6% and W for 6.4%, while SW adds another 5.1%. However, the average swell height is only 0.7m with a period of 8.5s, putting it in the small, fun-sized, groveling category. Swell direction mostly comes from ENE (48.6%) and E (28.0%), but there is now a visible trickle of western swell: W (2.3%), SW (1.9%), WSW (1.8%), and WNW (0.9%). This is the classic summer pattern: the ocean is glassy, the sideshore wind is gone, but wave energy is scarce. Air temps are high at 28.2°C, rainfall around 6.78 mm/day, and water temp is a warm 29.8°C. Look for the occasional tropical disturbance to inject some short-period SSW/SW energy; otherwise it's a skim-board and log day.
