Best Surf Season (August - October)

The monsoon transition is the golden time at Tuason Point. As the Southwest Monsoon yields to the Northeast Monsoon, the percentage of offshore W-NW wind days peaks at 33-38% and tropical cyclone activity in the West Pacific feeds the coast with longer-period NNE-NE groundswell. Swell heights may only average 2.5-3.5ft (0.7-1.1m), but the clean glassy conditions and occasional 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m) pulses from passing typhoons make these months the most consistent for quality surf.

Fair Surf Season (November - April)

The Northeast Monsoon takes over and delivers a steady diet of 3-5ft (1-1.5m) and 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) NE/ENE windswell. However, the trade winds howl out of the east and southeast most of the time, leaving the spot chopped and onshore for weeks on end. Only 3-8% of the time do ideal offshore winds align, so you need to be opportunistic. November and April are the mildest months of this stretch, with slightly better wind percentages and lingering typhoon swell.

Low Surf Season (May - July)

The heart of the Southwest Monsoon flattens the Pacific fetch. Average wave heights drop to 2.3-2.6ft (0.7-0.8m) and periods shrink below 9 seconds. Although the frequency of offshore W winds increases (up to 29% in July), the lack of consistent swell energy means mostly groveling conditions. Only a tropical cyclone tracking near the Philippines can produce worthwhile surf, and those events are few and far between.
