The swell table is stubbornly flat - every month shows the same problem: average swell height near 0ft (0.0m), average period 0.0s, and the ideal-surfing score at 0%. But the midwinter windrose tells the real story: offshore flow from N, NNE, NW and NNW rises to more than 40% of all observations. That means this south-facing beach is far more likely to link up with S/SSW groundswell under a grooming offshore wind. Cold fronts sweeping north of the Agulhas Current bring clean lines and occasional pumping long-period energy, while water temperatures cool to 15.8-16.2°C. It is still a fickle stretch of coast, but relative to the rest of the year, winter is when the stars align most often.
