Sabón delivers a classic summertime beachbreak experience, peeling both left and right over a sandy bottom. The right-hander is particularly adept at capturing swell, offering rideable waves even on smaller days. However, the massive port construction has noticeably diminished swell exposure, while the increased river runoff has heightened pollution concerns, making a post-session rinse essential. Best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers, this spot is most forgiving with smaller west to northwest swells, light offshore winds, and a low to mid tide range.

Best Surf Season (October - March)

North Atlantic low-pressure systems fire up as autumn transitions into winter, and Sabon, with its west-northwest exposure, is right in the crosshairs. During these months, average swell heights climb from 2.2m (7.2ft) in October to a peak of 3.0m (9.8ft) in January, while periods consistently push 12-13 seconds. The dominant W, WNW and NW swells hit the coast with serious power, and with the ideal wind window (SSW to SW) blowing 40-43% of the time, conditions line up more often than not. Expect solid, pumping surf and occasional XXL days when the Atlantic really unloads.
