March: Spring Pulse, Still Plenty of Power

March is the shoulder month that refuses to give up size. Average swell height remains a healthy 1.8m (around 6ft), while the period drops just a touch to 11.5s - enough to get barrels moving over the reef. W swell dominates at 37.1%, and WNW becomes the second-most important direction at 15.9%, with NW and NNW adding a further 7.6%. This makes for a slightly more WNW-biased month, which is right in the Cribbar's wheelhouse. The 1-2m (3-6ft) range is very well represented, and 2.5m+ (8ft+) swells still appear, though less frequently than in January and February. Ideal wind percentages hold at 23%, and as the ocean starts to stabilise, you will often find workable windows between passing fronts. Air temperature averages 8.2°C, precipitation is drying out at 2.54 mm/day, and water temperature is still cold at 9.0°C. March offers a great balance: better logistics than deep winter, but still enough W/WNW groundswell to make The Cribbar roar.
