Best Surf Season (November - March)

The North Pacific winter machine switches on in November and reaches a crescendo from December through February. Average swell heights jump to 1.8-2.0m (5.9-6.6ft) and periods sit in the 11.6-12.6s range, with the swell rose dominated by NNW energy and backed by solid NW and N pulses. Combined, those optimal directions account for roughly 30-50% of the wave energy at Hookipa during the core winter months. The spot's NNW exposure lines up with the dominant winter swell window, producing the powerful, hollow, world-class waves the beach is known for. Offshore wind windows are also at their most reliable, with 21-32% of observations coming from the S/SW/WSW range, especially in January.
