The ideal wind comes from the northwest, grooming the faces into smooth, ripable walls. Tidal influence is flexible—you can surf here at low, mid, or high tide—but timing matters to avoid the shallowest coral sections. That said, this isn’t a spot to take lightly. Currents can be deceptive, with a persistent northward drift that turns even a short session into a full-body workout. Paddling back out after riding the inside lefts often feels like you’ve gone a few rounds with the ocean. For a smarter game plan, consider a boat ride out to conserve energy and maximize wave count. Best Surf Season (December - February)

Nusa Dua comes alive during the northwest monsoon. While the swell doesn't reach the octane of the Southern Hemisphere winter, the trade-off is offshore reliability: ideal wind conditions push up around 60% in December, January and February. Mean wave heights sit at a manageable 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) with powerful 12-13s periods, and the dominant SSW/SW swell lines line up cleanly on Nusa Dua's SE-facing reefs. Water temperature hovers near 29°C and air temps stay in the high 20s, with tropical showers keeping humidity up but winds offshore. This is the money window.
