The winter months are unquestionably the prime time to surf Santa Agostino. As the Mediterranean storm track intensifies, the Tyrrhenian Sea comes alive with westerly and southwesterly swells generated by deep lows passing to the northwest. Average swell heights push to 0.8-0.9m (2.6-3ft) with periods reaching 5.4-5.6s, and the wind stats show a clear dominance of offshore flow from NE, ENE and E. This is when the beach sees its cleanest, most rideable waves - perfect for hunting down the better sandbank peaks.
