Best Surf Season (November - February)

The Tyrrhenian Sea shakes off its summer slumber as autumn deepens, and Seccheto - Elba's south-facing beach - finally receives consistent pulses of southerly swell. Average wave heights peak at 1.0m (3ft) in December, and the average period stretches to 5.2s. It's not Hawaii, but for this corner of the Med, those are prime numbers. Low-pressure systems that spin up over the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas send SSE, S and SSW swell directly into the beach, while NNW and NNE winds provide clean, offshore texture on around 10% of days. Cold fronts and the early winter jet stream activity combine to create the most powerful and rideable waves of the year.
