Best Surf Season (October - March)

The North Atlantic storm track is the engine that drives Anchor Point, and from October through March it runs at full power. Average swell heights sit between 2.0 and 2.2m (6.5-7ft) and average periods climb into the 11.6-13.3s range - exactly the kind of powerful, long-period groundswell this southwest-facing point needs. Ideal offshore flow from the NNE/NE/ENE/E quadrant is present 55-64% of the time during this window, especially in November, December and January. The statistical swell roses lean heavily on NNW/NW energy, but long-period northwest groundswell still wraps into the bay with serious consequence, and whenever a true W/SW component enters the mix the quality jumps to another level. Negative phases of the NAO often nudge Atlantic lows closer to Morocco, increasing the odds of steeper, more southerly angled swell and cleaner sessions.
