La Source, affectionately nicknamed "the Well" for the freshwater that bubbles up from onshore rock formations, offers a uniquely laid-back vibe that sets it apart from the lineup. Tucked into a scenic stretch of coast, this reef-and-sand break delivers A-frame peaks that peel both left and right over an uneven bottom, with a few scattered rocks lurking inside to keep you honest. Though whispers of a nearby hotel development persist, they haven’t dulled the easygoing atmosphere that draws surfers here for mellow sessions with plenty of character. Best on a west swell, though southwesterly and north pulses also light it up, producing rideable waves in the 2- to 6-foot range. Rights tend to hold a clean line toward the cliffs, while lefts shoulder off more playfully toward the beach—offering variety for intermediate surfers looking to refine their timing. Conditions shine with a northeast wind, and the spot remains fun across low, mid, and high tides. Whether you’re after a forgiving practice session or something with a bit more push when the swell picks up, La Source delivers a balanced mix of chill and challenge without ever feeling crowded or overwhelming.

Best Surf Season (October - March)

From October through March, the North Atlantic storm track roars to life and La Source receives its most consistent and powerful surf. Average heights climb into the 5-7ft (1.5-2.2m) range, with periods regularly pushing 11-13s. Although the raw swell rose is dominated by the NNW/NW quadrant, the long periods allow that energy to wrap into this southwest-facing stretch, and the west/southwest component becomes more influential. Add in offshore E/NE winds 55-64% of the time and you get the textbook recipe for pumping, clean waves. November, December and January are the standouts, especially when the NAO locks in a favorable winter storm pattern.
