Hash Point delivers a mellow, crumbly righthander right in town—a classic setup that comes to life when the sand stacks up neatly off the rocks. It's the kind of wave that invites both beginners finding their feet and experienced surfers looking to cruise without the rush. At its best, Hash Point is a perfect option for a casual, fun session when the conditions align. This spot really shines for intermediate surfers, handling swell from about 1 foot and thriving on a northwest swell direction. For the most user-friendly waves, pair that with a northeast wind—clean lines and plenty of glide. Mid to high tide is the sweet spot, smoothing out the takeoff and keeping the wave sectiony. When the swell switches to the southwest or north, the reef shapes up into right-hand point breaks that are ideal for long, drawn-out carves and trim runs. Because it's so accessible, Hash Point draws a steady crowd of locals and learners. It's a solid place to refine your turns, work on positioning, or just soak up a relaxed vibe. Just remember—quality can be fickle, so a quick conditions check before paddling out will save you the guesswork.

Best Surf Season & Climatology

Best Surf Season (October - March)

Hash Point is a winter spot. As the North Atlantic storm track shifts south toward Morocco, average wave heights rise to around 7ft (2.2m) and periods stretch into the powerful 11-13 second range. The Atlantic lows also send more E and ENE winds into the region, so the percentage of clean offshore days peaks at 51-62 percent. The catch? Most of the swell arrives from the NNW and NW, not the ideal WSW-W corridor. Long-period W and WNW swells are the ones that truly light up this west-south-west-facing beach; purely NNW swell often wraps in disorganized and weak. Still, from October through March the mix of size, period and wind is stacked in your favor.
