Best Surf Season (October - March)

Tamri's surf year is dictated by the North Atlantic storm track and the strength of the Azores High. From October through March, the seasonal southward shift of the storm track - especially during neutral or negative phases of the North Atlantic Oscillation - sends regular low-pressure systems across the North Atlantic. Their long-period W, WNW, NW and NNW groundswell piles into this NW-facing corner of Morocco with average heights of 6-8ft (1.8-2.4m) and periods commonly in the powerful 10-14s band. At the same time, offshore flow from the eastern and southern quadrants becomes more common, pushing the ideal-wind percentage above 35 percent and peaking near 50 percent in December. This is the window for real, open-ocean, high-quality surf on the Moroccan coast.
