While it may not be the showstopper that seasoned wave-hunters dream of, it delivers fun, right-breaking peaks when a northwest swell pushes through—especially when a typhoon is spinning out in the Philippine Sea. The wave breaks over dead coral, so keep your feet up and your wits about you if you’re not well-versed in reef waves. Best surfed around mid to high tide with southeast winds grooming the face, the spot handles open swell from both northwest and northeast angles, with a minimum of 2 feet to get things rolling. Intermediate surfers will find the most value here, enjoying playful, manageable rides without the crowds or ego. The vibe is refreshingly mellow, and the short walk from the resort means you can be in the water minutes after your coffee. Just stay patient and watch the swell direction—when it’s on, Badoc Point delivers a genuine slice of laid-back Ilocos Norte surf.

Best Surf Season (September - October)

The Asian monsoon dictates life at Badoc Point. This west-northwest-facing section of the Ilocos coast spends much of the year looking at swell that is either too small, too short-period, or lined up on the wrong angle. The standout window is September and October. The average swell height sits between 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m), the average period is in the punchy 7.5-8s range, and the percentage of usable W/WNW/NW/NNW swell is at its annual peak. Add to that the highest ideal wind frequencies of the year (53-57%) and the tropical cyclone wildcard of the West Pacific typhoon season, and you have the months most likely to produce clean, semi-organized surf on Badoc's banks.
