The North Atlantic delivers its heaviest punch between October and March, when a parade of extratropical cyclones tracks toward the Bay of Biscay and sends long-period NW/WNW swell marching into El Sardinero. Average wave heights hover around 6-7ft (1.8-2.1m) with periods of 11.3-12.9s, producing powerful, grinding lines on the northeast-facing beach. During this window, the percentage of ideal wind sits at 41-50%, with SSW-SW-W offshore flow often grooming the swell into clean, rippable walls.
