Broadway Beach

Broadway anchors the southernmost point of New Jersey's coastline, a sand-bottom jetty setup that has transformed into a legitimate peak thanks to a strategic sand-pumping program. The jetty now boasts well-defined bars, with the main attraction being a consistent left that peels off the structure and can shift a few yards down the beach as the swell bends. When the energy picks up, wedgy rights and lined-up lefts fire along the beach, offering playful waves for a variety of skill levels.

Best Surf Season (September - November)

If you are looking for the most consistent waves at Broadway Beach, circle September, October, and November. The Atlantic hurricane season combines with the first autumn extratropical lows to push more energetic E/SE and S/SSW swell into this south-facing shoreline. September boasts the longest average period of the year, 8.0s, while October and November hold onto enough offshore N/NNW wind to keep the surface clean. Water temperatures are still very workable, ranging from roughly 12-23°C (54-74°F), and it is not unusual to score waist-high, rippable peaks when a tropical system or coastal low tracks offshore. It is not a big-wave spot by any stretch, but these three months offer the best combination of swell direction, period, wind, and warmth.
