Best Surf Season (November - February)

Nuevo Vallarta's most reliable quality window comes when the North Pacific winter storm track wakes up and the dry season takes hold. Average swell heights fluctuate around a modest 3-3.5ft (0.9-1.1m), but the 13-14s periods and frequent offshore wind from the ENE/E quadrant make the most of that energy. High pressure over the Mexican Plateau creates clean land breezes in the morning, while passing frontal systems send WNW/W pulse sets into Banderas Bay. It is not a big-wave destination, but when a W or WSW line stands up on the sandbars, the bay offers long, rippable walls.
