October: Early Autumn Transition - More W Energy and More Clean Days

October begins the long road back to quality surf. Average height is 1.0m (3ft) and average period is 13.5s. The swell direction is still dominated by SW (50.4%) and WSW (32.9%), but W has increased to 7.5% and SSW to 7.8%, with WNW at 0.9%. The pure W/WNW/NW/NNW component is only about 8%, so it is not yet firing, but the trend is encouraging. Larger 1.5-2m (5-6.5ft) and 2-2.5m (6.5-8ft) swells are still almost exclusively from SSW/SW/WSW, often generated by tropical cyclones or early-season North Pacific storms. Wind conditions improve markedly: ideal offshore flow occurs 32% of the time, compared to the summer low season's onshore grind. NNW still leads the wind rose at 21.1%, but NNE (15.1%), N (8.7%) and NW (9.5%) are all calmer and more variable. Water remains warm at 30.1°C, air averages 28.2°C, and rain eases to 4.22 mm/day. October is a transition month where the odds of a clean, fun session begin to climb.
