Majestics, rising from the depths of Puraran Bay in the Philippines, is a world-class right-hand reef break that commands respect. The wave unloads over a living coral shelf, detonating with genuine power and offering critical drops that can quickly turn from exhilarating to harrowing. This wave is not for the timid—it’s a proving ground for experienced surfers who thrive on intensity and tube riding. Optimal conditions align with a solid easterly swell, though the break can also handle energy from the north and east. You’ll want the swell to push past the 3-foot (1-meter) mark to properly clear the coral and generate rideable shape. Timing the tide is crucial: mid to high tide, particularly on the push, cleans up the face and creates those crisp, hollow lines. A light southwest wind is your best friend, helping to hold the lip open for deeper drops. Once it reaches overhead, the power ratchets up dramatically, demanding expert positioning, quick reflexes, and a willingness to pull in. Intermediates may find smaller windows of fun on mellow days, but beware—the wave grows increasingly unforgiving as the swell rises. Low tide exposes the reef, leading to nasty cuts and close encounters with the coral. The local vibe is welcoming, though a handful of regulars keep a sharp eye on lineup etiquette. Respect the pecking order and you’ll be rewarded with some of the most thrilling, back-to-back barrels the Philippines has to offer. Best Surf Season (September - October)

The annual swell clock at Majestics is controlled by the clash between the northeast and southwest monsoons. From September into October, the southwest monsoon is still strong enough to deliver offshore S/SW airflow, while the first pulses of longer-period NE and ENE swell are already arriving from typhoon remnants and low-pressure systems in the Pacific. This is the finest average window of the year, although that is a relative statement at a spot that is destined to be wind-affected much of the time. Average wave heights climb to 3-4.5ft (1.0-1.4m), periods reach 9.3-9.6s, and the beach still sees 18-47% ideal wind; when a tropical low or frontal boundary aligns, Majestics can offer clean, punchy overhead waves on a glassy face.
