Murtosa's west-northwest exposure lines up almost perfectly with the prevailing winter groundswell, while the average swell height runs 2.3-2.6m (7.5-8.5ft) and the average period sits in the powerful 11.8-12.8s band. Meanwhile, continental high pressure over Iberia and Europe favors offshore E/ESE winds, pushing the ideal-wind frequency to 44-50%. The result is consistently firing, well-groomed beachbreak waves, especially when the negative phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation steers low-pressure systems farther south and into prime swell-generating territory.
